Paul Empson Photography is based in Middlesbrough, providing professional photographic services to businesses and individuals in the Northeast & North Yorkshire.

Several years ago, having had a successful IT career, working in both the UK & Europe, I decided it was time for a change, a big change.

Already an enthusiastic photographer; I trained in wedding & portrait photography at British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) approved centres. I invested in quality photographic equipment & set about creating a website & a body of work for you, potential clients, to view. Training & enthusiasm for photography is all well & good; I wanted to know that my work reached technical standards so I joined the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and submitted my work for assessment.  I was awarded my Licentiateship LRPS & aim to progress further along their accreditation path in future.

Photography is a means to expression: the chance to see or anticipate a moment & present people with my view of the event. This is why I enjoy social portraiture the most: weddings, portraits & events. Each offers the chance to observe people and capture their expressions & emotions as they happen. I then have the chance to style those images into an album or print in a way, I hope, that they will cherish for ever.

Variety is the spice of life. If I photographed just one subject I'd become bored & stale. That is why I photograph a wide range subjects & disciplines from babies to racing cars, ceremonies to stage shows through to landscapes & macro. Each keeps the other interesting & exciting.

You’re looking to hire a photographer to provide you with a service, not just turn up with a camera and click the button, anyone can do that. I ask questions, I listen to what you want; I strive to create the images as you describe. It's all about creating something for you.

If I want to relax away from the camera I can always head to the hills on my mountain bike or go watch a movie. However if it's a movie I'll be looking at the lighting and watching the scenes finding some subtle inspiration that I may just try and exploit in my nest assignment.
